The best foods for your new hermit crab

By Debora Rodgers

Some people have a natural interest in animals and other creatures. They are fascinated by the way they live and act. There are lots of resources out there for people that want to study animals. There are books, television shows and exhibits, but some people still want to know more. Some people are curious of small creatures and there is one that most don't know too much about. That creature is the crab.If you own this creature or are thinking of purchasing one, then you might be wondering what do hermit crabs eat.

This is a good question. A lot of people know what dogs, cats, horses and mice consume, but not small creatures like this one. Some people guess, but only few of them are right.

These creatures are omnivores. This basically means they can have anything like humans can. This kind of crab hardly has a preference and just eats whatever is closest to them.If you own this creature as a pet, then you can feed them meat. Most living things can eat meat, it provides protein. These creatures are constantly surrounded by meat, so when they have it for dinner, it's nothing new.

Vegetables are not only good for humans, but they are good for these creatures. They can have this kind of food as long as it's washed and cleaned. It must also be dried too.

If this is your pet, try feeding them fruit. After they have vegetables, they can try the fruits that we enjoy daily. This must also be cleaned off so that they can remain healthy like us.If the food is washed and dried, they can have it.These creatures can also have tree bark and leaves from an oak tree. These items have tannin, which is good.

Once you have read books and done research, what do hermit crabs eat won't be a question you'll have to ask. These creatures are unique and can eat a lot.Owners of these creatures can rest easy knowing that their pets can consume everyday food.
