Discover Homemade Dog Biscuit Recipes New Pet Owners Need to Know

By Geraldine Dimarco

Homemade dog biscuit recipes are outstanding. If you are new in this owning a pet thing than that might sound like a bit daunting-- believe me, I know. I also know that it won't be too long before those furry four footed creatures will steal your heart and when they do, it will become a very small matter for you to make them food from scratch.

Now, why do people think homemade dog treats are a difficult thing to do? It really isn't if you take the time to look up on it. A lot of what we actually eat, the canine can consume as well. However, you must make it a point to find out the ingredients that will be harmful for the dog. Print out a list of these food substances and put it up in your kitchen to make sure you don't mistakenly include any of these in their dishes.

When you already know the things you have to avoid, the only thing that can stop you from making great biscuits is your imagination. Be creative in making your doggie's treats as fun and appetizing as possible. Find healthy canine cookbooks and those decorative cutters and baking molds to help you in this endeavor. Dog cuisine doesn't have to be boring.

OK, we have our recipes and tools-what exactly do you want to make for your pet? There are many kinds of treats you can make. It doesn't matter how much experience you have when doing this-it's all simple to do. You can make savory and meaty treats; or sweet and delectable biscuits-either way, you will get a happy dog out of it.

For the savory treats-boil chicken or whatever meat in water seasoned with a little garlic. Chop them into bite-sized pieces. You can hand feed these as is or make it yummier by baking it with cheese until they are set and hardened. Keep them in air-tight bags until you have need of them.

Sweet treats are also quite simple to do-- it's a lot like regular baking. In fact, you can use any cookie and muffin recipes to make these canine biscuits. It is important though that you take away the ingredients that are toxic to them like chocolates, macadamia nuts and raisins. Use peanut butter to make yummy chewies for dogs.

So why choose homemade dog treats over commercial kibble that you can just pick up from grocery stores? There are several good reasons but the most valuable one is this- the former is the safer choice. Not only is it healthier because you can control what goes in your pet's diet, you can also avoid having your pet become a victim of pet food recalls that have been fatal to many dogs before.

Homemade dog biscuit recipes are excellent tools to build a stronger relationship with that special furry friend. You don't have to have years to experience to make them-the only requirement is a heart that is loving and willing to learn what it takes to make sure your beloved dog has the best life has to offer.
