Dog Drivers License For Their Security

By Katelyn Buckner

The latest thing for your puppy's protection is a dog drivers license. No, they are not for her to legally drive your car. This little certificate informs anyone who that finds her, if she were to become lost, what her name and address is and to whom she belongs. It clips on her collar with her other important tags like her rabies vaccine code.

The small permit is plastic-coated and features the state you reside in at the top in a larger font. This card is very similar to the one you have been issued to legally operate your car, complete with a photo of your canine. And just like most vehicle permits, some contain an additional, smaller photo to make it harder to duplicate. You will be responsible for emailing a quality photo of your puppy before the card is completed.

Other features on the front include your telephone number, located just under the state name so when he is found, the person can call you. His full name and address will be positioned next to his photo and under this there is room for personal data. You will want to accurately post your canine's coat color, eye color and any distinguishing markings.

There is space to have fun with your canine's new driving permit. Personality traits could go under class or restrictions. A puppy could be classified as a freshman or lightweight. As for restrictions, not allowed to drive golf carts, no motorcycle sidecars and no eggplant Parmesan after midnight could be funny statements for a dog's limitations.

Other traditional information can be input in the spaces on the permit like sex and date of birth or DOB. Most individuals will leave the expiration date blank, but that is a personal choice and could be filled out in the past or 100 years in the future. For your hound dog's monogram, anything goes. A large "X" or an absurd name written on the line can give you a chuckle each time you look at the card.

Even though there is room for fun statements on the cards, they are all serious when your puppy goes missing. Besides the ID tag for his collar, you will get a matching card for your wallet. This will help you when others want to know how to recognize random dogs they see wondering around and help you reunite with your doggie.

The safest place for your canine when you are out in public is in heel position which is a walk or stride next to your left side. Unfortunately, there may come a time when your puppy does not listen to your commands or becomes free from your grasp. If these were to happen, her permit with the essential data will help someone return her to you. Additionally, the card will reflect light from cars to keep your pup safe in the dark.

When it comes to protecting your canine, a dog drivers license will help her find her way home faster. These little ID tags filled with information on you and your pup will give your peace of mind because you are guarding her from being picked up by the pound and adopted out or worse. Identification tags are going to be the first thing anyone looks for on a canine that shows up at their house, business or is taken in by animal control. You want the individual to know who to call.
