The Profitable Tale of Organic Dog Treats

By Geraldine Dimarco

What is the first thing that comes to mind when somebody says they "went organic"? Health, right? This is because organic usually means that the practitioners of it are using food and products that resemble its natural origin the most-without chemicals added to "enhance" the product's features. It doesn't matter if you are human or hound, the results are the same. The products might be a bit pricier-but it's definitely worth it.

Now, this is not to say that all commercial pet food bags are bad-not at all. There are several brands that have a high standard of quality that dogs can benefit from. However, homemade dog treats, especially that of a more natural source, has been known to improve the quality and quantity of the canine's life. Here are some excellent reasons why people use organic dog treats:

1. Maintenance of a healthy weight. Overweight dogs are more susceptible to some canine diseases. Therefore it is vitally important that your pet maintains the recommended weight for his particular breed. Organic food are packed with nutrients and generally more filling so the dog will only consume the amount he needs. Moreover, these kinds of food usually trims away the unneeded substances that will only be translated to excess weight for the animal

2. Higher energy levels. First-rate organic fare is full of essential vitamins and minerals that the animal needs. As opposed to the less than natural form of food, the canine will enjoy improved vitality and a higher level of energy; which in turn will make him more active-encouraging a healthier lifestyle of exercise. Isn't a healthy and fun-loving dog a priority to all pet owners?

3. A good-looking pet. Because organic homemade dog treats are free of most colorings, preservatives and artificial additives-the dog will be less susceptible to skin infections and allergies. Putting the animal on an organic diet will result in a softer and shinier coat, clearer orifices and the removal of whatever skin disorder he might be suffering from.

4. Good digestive movement. Excellent quality of natural grains and protein are easy to digest. It is common for the dog to consume less food (as it is also more filling as each bite is densely packed with nutrients) without sacrificing his strength and vigor. Subsequently, he will poop less and his pattern of "doing business" will be more predictable. The stool will also be less rancid (I hear pet owners from all around the world heave a sigh of relief).

5. Boost in the immune system. Organic food is easily digestible-which also means that the nutrients that the food contains are absorbed more. This process is directly beneficial to enhancing the autoimmune system of the canine. A good immune system will automatically translate to the lowered risk of contracting canine infections and sicknesses.

They say organic is more expensive but really, you will end up saving a lot more in doctor fees and medical bills when you prioritize the animal's health. If anything, organic dog treats are worth trying. When you do you will forget how you ever did without it.
