A Quick Guide On How To Make A Window Bird Feeder

By Debra Garrison

There are so many bird lovers out there who just love to look at them and admire them from a near distance. It is for this reason that the houses of people who love birds will more often have a small window bird feeder somewhere in their room. Now if one is interested in creating one for his own house, then follow these simple steps.

Now the goal here is to make simple feeders that are very easy to create and do not take up much time. So probably the first thing to buy would be a regular sized plastic box. Now do not worry about the installation because there are plastic boxes that are specially designed to be feeders.

So if one has gotten his hands on one of those plastic boxes, then he should attach it to the window securely. Fortunately, these boxes come with very secure brackets that allow the box to be able to carry the weight of a lot of heavy things. If the box does not come with the brackets, then it is still possible to buy some brackets in the hardware store.

The next stage after this will involve filling up the box with a few small rocks or even some sand so that one may put some cups of birdseed in it later. Now it is possible to buy some small rocks or some sand in pet stores so that people do not need to look for these things. Another great thing to use here would be aquarium gravel which is usually put inside an aquarium filled with fish.

Once the box is already filled with sand, stones, or gravel, one must now get a few cups and fill them up with birdseed. It is always best to fill up the cups with different kinds of birdseed so that he may attract different kinds of birds. He must then bury all of the cups deep inside the gravel so that they do not fall off.

Now just to add a little bit of style to the box, one may add up a few decorations so that the feeder will look really pretty and colorful. The best thing to add to feeders would be a few small plants or even a little bit of flowers so that it has a rather natural look. If one is feeling even more artistic, then he may even color the box with some paint so that a lot more birds will be attracted to it.

Now take note that not only birds will be the only visitors in feeders like these. Squirrels and chipmunks would love to set up a house in these things because it is somewhere that they will feel comfortable in. Just so that one does not get caught off guard, always expect some other small animals to be in the feeder.

So basically, that is the easiest and fastest way to make a window bird feeder at home. As one can see, making this small thing will not even take that long. If one is a true bird lover, then he will be able to appreciate doing this kind of hobby.
