Old English Bulldog Breeders Offer Beautiful Puppies

By Angel Dudley

If you are interested in buying a Bulldog, you should visit Old English Bulldog breeders in your area. They will tell you more about this popular breed and offer you beautiful puppies you will instantly fall in love with. This breed was created hundreds of years ago, to participate in popular dog fights, called bull-baits. This dog was especially fast, strong and aggressive once, what was required for this bloody sport in England.

This breed extinct more than hundred years ago, but it was used in creating another popular breed, well-known as Pit Bull Terrier. It was created using Old English Terrier genetic material as well. These dogs were made to be fast, very strong and especially aggressive, and to be used in dog fights.

For years now, breeders are trying to recreate Old English Bulldogs. The most interesting example for this is the breed called Olde English Bulldogge. It is a result of numerous cross-breeds between Pit Bull Terriers, Mastiffs and Bulldogs, and it has many characteristics the old, extinct breed had. The only thing they didn't succeed to recreate is the special temperament original breed possessed.

There were several other attempts, more or less successful. For example, Victorian Bulldogs, Spanish Bulldogs and Wilkinson Bulldogs. The resemblance is obvious, but they are all very gentle and affectionate dogs, without their ancestor's aggressiveness. That's why they can be very nice pets, obedient and devoted.

English Bulldogs are compact, strong, medium-sized dogs with massive heads and bodies. Smooth and glossy short coats are very easy to maintain. They come in different brindle shades, solid red and white, pale yellow, fawn and all other combinations of mentioned colors and shades.

They look dangerous, and they can be dangerous if someone wants to hurt their masters. They are very good guard dogs, and will take very good care of your property. Even so, these dogs are among the gentlest dogs and adore children. They require human care and attention, but also a strong leadership.

Although they can be up to 16 inches tall and weight only about 55 pounds, they do look intimidating enough to be very good guard dogs. Smaller females are also strong enough to scare the intruder. They do not require extensive exercise, but they do need a long, casual walk every single day. They will behave better this way, and live longer.

This dog is quite sensitive, and can easily get sick, especially if it is cold. Never leave it somewhere where it is too hot either, because he could have heart problems. Joints are their weak spots, particularly their knees. Skin and eyes are prone to allergies and infections.

Most Old English Bulldog breeders claim that they have the original breed, although this breed extinct. Even so, you cannot go wrong choosing Bulldog for your pet. These dogs are incredibly gentle, loyal and devoted to their masters. Unfortunately, they live only eight years in average, but if you give them the right type of food, and don't allow them to become too fat, they might stay with you longer.
