Brain Chemical That Makes You Happy

By Lora Weeks

Your brain has a lot of coping mechanisms for you to be able to deal with happiness, stress, pain, excitement, love and other things. One of these coping mechanisms is the releasing of different hormones or chemicals throughout your body. There is a certain chemical that makes you happy. These chemicals are sent and received to your brain.

One of the chemicals is endorphin. This hormone covers up most of the pain you feel, either emotional pain or physical pain. It can be labeled as the body's joyful chemical. For example, at times of injury, it helps you function by making you feel better even if you are hurt.

One instance when endorphin is really helpful is when you are bitten hard by a dog. You will still be able to run for safety because your mind sends you a certain feeling of safety. One of the things you can do to voluntarily release this hormone to your system is by exercising and smiling often.

If you laugh or cry a lot, this can also be one of the causes of release. Endorphins are however not released into the body as continuous as you might think. There are only short moments or quick lapses of time when your body produces it. This is why after you laugh or cry, you feel better about yourself instantly.

One other hormone which can cause happiness is dopamine. This is the hormone responsible for making people feel either excited or anxious. This can enable them to be more open to talking and expressing their feelings. This hormone is mainly responsible for the human body's emotional response, movement, or experience of pain and pleasure.

These two hormones can be known as a chemical that makes you happy. You only have to make sure you have a healthy outlook in life and a healthy body. Keep up the exercise and regular diet, and surely, your good hormones will keep flowing. Don't forget to always smile and have happy thoughts. Nothing else can bring happiness to you but yourself.
