Beautiful Beloved Pet Memorial Markers

By Rebekah Alford

We love them so much. Our pets are a major part of the family, not just a four-legged friend who lives at your house. When part of our family passes away, we want to remember them forever. Beautiful beloved pet memorial markers help mark the spot we choose to place them for their final rest.

A marker for pets comes in many different shapes, sizes and styles. If your beloved family animal was a dog, there are several choices to lovingly remember him or her. Large ornamental stones, with the name of the dog engraved on it are one of the most popular types of grave symbols available.

A traditional paw print for a feline could be used but some say these types of gravesite signage look more like a dog's paw print than a cat's paw print. Many cat owners will order a cutout of a cat in metal or a type of stone. This will allow them to have their cat's name and dates engraved on the front and it is more representational of a feline.

If your choice of signage for the gravesite is a cutout of a dog, such as a metal sign, you may also need to purchase a pole with a hook on it to hang the sign from. There are several options for this and it will depend on how tall you wish the sign to be. Another option would to place the metal dog cutout sign in a frame which has short leg type sticks that penetrate the ground to hold it in place.

Many cat owners will tell you their cat had big personalities. Your cat's favorite toy or pastime should be represented on their gravesite sign for all to see. If your cat loved a squeaky mouse or a ball of yarn, the sign maker could add one of these to the corner near his name. Some individuals will request a small shelf be made in the sign so that they can place their cat's real toy on it for their baby to have it near them for eternity.

An engraved tribute to your beloved dog or cat is another option to consider. Natural stones, granite and river rocks are available to mark the spot where you lay to rest the best friend you ever had. Inside a weatherproof metal frame, an etched engraved portrait of your cat or dog could also be a sign for their final resting place.

Unique memorials include garden benches, engraved bird baths and the more traditional headstones like those found in human cemeteries. Each of these unusual tributary signs of love could be adorned with angels, puppies, kittens or anything that represents your beloved animal friend. Some families with order teddy bears to be carved around a bird bath because their dog loved to carry his teddy around wherever he went.

Beautiful beloved pet memorial markers are a wonderful way to remember the love your dog, cat, fish or bird gave to you for their short life. You will want to place a sign where you lay them to rest so you can visit them from time to time. Pets mean so much to our lives, our happiness, giving them the best in the end is the least we can do.
