Top Tips For Including Goldendoodle Puppies As Part Of Your Family

By Lela Perkins

The cute bundles of furry goldendoodle puppies are sure to melt the heart. Looking much like stuffed toy bears, they are a goofy, yet friendly breed of dog. Breeders love them for their high intellect and work hard to help families bring the lovable pups home successfully.

A combination of Poodle and Golden Retriever, the breed is said to have the very best attribute of each kind of dog. An expert kennel owner will tell you that this is called hybrid vigor. Because both parental lines demonstrate an ease in water, hunting skills, and the enjoyment in retrieving, these puppies have the same abilities to a high degree. Families who want to own one must expect to spend plenty of time exercising and playing with their puppy.

This hybrid will have fur that ranges from cream to brown and sometimes even black. The genetics of the parents will affect the coloring of the offspring. But, most are cream, yellow, tan or blond and this is why the golden remains in the name.

Top kennels will often have very strict policies about meeting new puppies and taking them home. Most are very concerned about keeping infection and illness away from their kennel. To do this requires potential owners to follow guidelines about appointments and picking up their new puppy. For families that live far away, it is possible to have a puppy shipped to its new home via the airlines.

Eight weeks is the common age for goldendoodles to get their first vaccinations. By this time they will have been completely checked over by a vet, and most importantly, they will begin to be mature enough to leave their mother. These friendly dogs are very loyal and do enjoy the love they receive when they move to be with their new human family.

Some people buy certain goldendoodles because of their reputation for not shedding. For families with allergies, it is often possible to buy the kind that either doesn't shed at all, or very minimally. Breeders know which ones have this characteristic. A visit to an adult pet is the recommended way to try out allergies before a puppy is purchased. In fact, many breeders will not allow visits to their kennels for allergy checks.

These dogs can become part of the family very quickly. They are very intelligent and their friendliness prompts them to get acquainted quickly. Prepare for bringing one home by stocking up on their food. Their breeder can tell you what they are currently eating. Buy strong stainless steel water and food bowls. Have a new leash and collar ready. Purchase a strong plastic carrying crate in the proper size, and be sure it is approved for airline transportation. Find the right size dog bed or create a dedicated space for the new puppy to sleep.

Families with children are wonderful places for affectionate goldendoodle puppies. Their happy nature makes them a perfect fit in a busy and healthy home. They are certain to add lots of fun to the daily routine of even the most active family members.
