Dogs are the loyal pets and very loving with their human companions, and they are also an inquisitive type of animal. Even if you have enjoyed owning many animal companions, you might be unaware of some of the following bits of trivia.

Americans love their dogs. In fact, the United States has the largest population of domesticated dogs in the world. This dog-human bond is so strong that as many has one million dogs actually are named as the main beneficiaries in their owner's will.

For several years, there is a myth circulating that dogs see only in the colors black and white. Scientists meanwhile have found out that dogs actually see in colors to some extent. The human eyes have three cones and dogs only have two. This can mean then that they see colors like blue and yellow, but for the other colors, they may not be able to distinguish these. Your dogs may not be able to see the rainbow colors that you see, but they can beat people in the dark because dogs can see better at night.

We also know that dogs have more advanced hearing sense compared to that of humans. Dogs can hear sounds in frequencies that the human ear may not be able to hear. It can also be interesting however to see that when dogs are born, they are deaf and their ear canals are closed. After a few weeks however, the puppies develop these enough for them to hear and eventually, they can see also.

Dogs may not be able to speak in our language, but they can understand a wide variety of commands, either verbal or gestures. In fact, they can learn more than 200 gestures and verbal commands.
