Keeping Your Golden Retriever Healthy

By Will Schlepinger

Once you have helped your Golden Retriever build up his immune system, he will be healthy and strong enough to fend off any type of illness. Your dog's immunity can be strengthened if you give him proper food and exercise. If you care about your Golden Retriever and want to help him develop a strong immune system - you'll find this information very helpful.

Homemade food is preferable for your pet. You can substitute this for canned food, or mix it in together. Homemade food has a lot of nutrients and will taste better if you know how to prepare it. Your dog should also be given spring water. Golden Retrievers will benefit from spring water, though many of this breed are given tap water.

If you give him bones, opt for raw bones with plenty of meat so he will develop strong teeth. It's very important for Golden Retrievers to have healthy teeth. If your dog has a bone to chew on everyday, then his teeth will surely be healthy and strong. You can also use chew toys as well, especially when you are playing with him, as they will help him to develop strength in his jaws.

You can also help to keep your Golden Retriever healthy by knowing a bit about health problems that he could have. This helps you keep up with what is diagnosed by your vet. If ever your pet is diagnosed with something, find out more about the condition so you'll get an idea what you can do to take care of it.

You should consider having your male Golden Retriever neutered to avoid reproductive area problems. Reproductive area problems are quite common among Golden Retrievers, and these can cause more serious problems if left untreated. If you aren't planning to breed your Golden Retriever, you should have him neutered as soon as you can. You could also spay females to prevent health problems.

Your pet can live longer if you take proper care of him. Try to maintain your dog's health. Proper diet and exercise will help your dog a lot. You won't find a better pet than Golden Retrievers.
