Litter Box Options Check Out This Comparison

By Simon Alves

These days you can find a number of litter boxes available. Before all you had to do was grab a square shaped box and add litter of some sort. Nowadays however there are far more options in shape, size, color and even self cleaning options. Whether you, as well as your cat, prefers something simple or you want a high tech model, it's best to shop around and find out what your options are. Make your decision easier with the information you'll find below.

Many people are skeptical over whether or not a hooded litter box is best. You will find some people who believe that cats like the hooded litter box because they provide privacy which is important to most cats. One disadvantage of covered boxes is that they are often smaller and make it more difficult for your cat to find a comfortable position. These covered boxes also pose a sanitation issue in that you are more likely to ignore the fact that it needs to be cleaned out. You will have to make that decision for yourself which may mean trying it both ways, open and covered.

An option for disposable litter boxes that are made from disposable recycled paper to minimize odor is the Kitty's WonderBox . If cleaning out a litter box doesn't appeal to you this is a great alternative. Consider the CatGenie system if you seriously dislike having to clean out a litter box. This system is of course more costly than a standard box because of the initial cost as well as the monthly cartridge costs. This sanitary waste removal system takes the hassle out of dealing with cat litter.

People with more than one cat wonder how many litter boxes they need. This depends on several factors like how many cats you have, how well they get along, and what they're used to. It's generally a good idea to have a separate litter box for each cat, but there are cats that don't mind sharing a box. A different type of box may work better for each of your cats. One of your cats may prefer a covered box while another prefers to use an open one. Once you figure out what works best, stick with it because cats don't like frequent changes.

You will find many other types of litter boxes available other than those we've discussed here. Litter boxes can range in price from a couple bucks to a couple hundred bucks. Figure out first what you need and what your cat will tolerate as far as features.
