Choosing The Right Collar For Your Puppy

A good dog collar will let you teach your dog and pass you individuality to it. They are available in a wide variety of colors and fashions. Dog collar will also add to the style part and hence help in easy recognition of your faithful buddy.

Nowadays, it is always advised to take guidance from a professional dog trainer in choosing the best suitable collar for your puppy otherwise it could be a sweating job. The collars are generally chosen according to your puppy's behavior. A docile puppy will love a soft cloth collar while a spiked collar will suit best to a more stubborn puppy.

Buckle collars are used more often than others. It has a sequence of holes and a buckle firmly tucked according to the required size. Besides getting your dog's name stitched on the collar, you can select a collar from various types of cloth, colors and designs available.

Though buckle collars are used standardly but you can make your own additions to make it safer for your puppy. For instance, you can modify them adding discharge flaps which can be used for easy taking away of the collar. Or you can go for breakaway collars which are designed to pull to pieces in case of excessive trauma. These types of collars are of great help in unwanted situations.

Another type of collar called the prong collars can come in handy to handle stiff and nagging puppies. The prong collars have metal prongs equi-spaced inside the collar which can poke your puppy's neck when tugged in case of disorderly actions. It is assumed wrongly that prong collars might be harmful for your puppy but it can be better to use than other collar types if used with care safety.
