In fact, before you decide to do Yorkshire terrier breeding you have to take a lot of different things into consideration. And the very first thing for you to consider is you Yorkshire terrier. You have to know about some specific faults they could have, whether they meet all the breed standards as well as what could be transmitted through genes to the offspring.

To cut down the amount of infections transferred during breeding, ensure that the male and female Yorkies have all the cultures bacteria tests done. Before breeding dogs have to be properly checked by the vet in order to make sure that they do not have conditions that could be passed on to the litter like cardiomyopathy or hypothyroidism and others. You have to be familiar with all the possible hereditary faults that could result in the line you are breeding. You have to know that you can do in order to reduce hereditary conditions.

Besides, it is necessary to consider everything that could go wrong during the gestation period. Remember that some of the most common complications could be prolapsed uterus, uterine inertia, mastitis and others. In addition you have to determine if you have an ability and time to breed Yorkshire terriers.

As the whelping time becomes closer the female Yorkie does not have to be left alone and in almost all cases Yorkie will need help when whelping. And so before and after whelping you may need to stay home for a few days. Apart from this, the cost has to be taken into account. As well you have to know all the signs of any problems that could happen during breeding process and what steps have to be taken to solve these problems.

When the Yorkie puppy is born there is always a chance that a birth defect could be present and if it is serious, then the puppy could have to be put down.
