Getting your first puppy is so exciting. This will not only be a learning experience for the puppy but will be a new experience for you as well. Once you get over the cuddly and cuteness you will begin to see patterns that need to be corrected. One action you will need to correct fast is to stop dog nipping. Here are 6 easy steps to take to accomplish this act.

Beginning the training and learning process while your puppy is young, still a puppy, has its advantages. This is a time where they can still adapt to rules easily. They are developing habits at this stage, so this is the perfect time to instill good ones into their minds.

Step two is being able to recognize when you need to employ methods to stop dog nipping. If your dog is chewing up furniture, your favorite plants, clothes, shoes, you hands, and even feet, it is time to start developing multiple techniques that will help to effectively end their inherited nature of nips that could lead to severe bites.

Step three is to maintain a high degree of consistency in your efforts of training your dog. Be aware that it could take two to three weeks before the dog retains what you are teaching them. It will not happen overnight. Staying on track will make the process easier and smoother.

Step four is to check around at pet stores and supplies for the bitter apple product. This is highly effective at keeping a dog from nipping as they hate the taste of this one. It does a great job at discouraging a dog from chewing on things.

The fifth step is to give your puppy chews that are made especially for them. There are a variety of flavors that will keep the dog entertained and is great tool to stop dog nipping. The sixth and last step is to help your dog stay active by walking them and allowing them to play outdoors. This provides more fun for the dog and takes their mind off of nipping.
