Extra Large Dog Breeds

If you thought that finding large dog pens and large wicker dog beds was challenging, try finding an extra large wicker dog bed for the largest dog breed. Our adorable extra large dogs need extra space, and though they are big on size, they are also are big on compassion. So some of the biggest dog breed we will detail in this article.

Let's start in the extra large dog breeds with the African Boerboel. This breed looks like the Mastiff and Bulldog, but have been bred in Africa as a protector and a good working dog. Another fine extra large dog breed is the Akbash, who stands out with their beautiful snow white coat.

If you are looking for the largest dog breed that loves children then the Akita is one of the perfect extra large dog breeds for the family, along with the American Bulldog. Just because the Alapha Blue Blood Bulldog is a rare breed, do not over look that they are smart and very accepting of families. The Alaskan Malamute on the other hand is independent and may not listen to their owners on every occassion.

How can you not love the "Old Country Bulldog" otherwise known as the American Bulldog. They truly love their owners, sometimes to the point where they will do heroic acts to protect their owners. They are hard working and devoted canines. If you love Great Pyrenees, then you will enjoy an Anatolian Shepherd, as they closely resemble that very large breed. The Anatolian Shepherd are very loyal and are used as guardian dogs.

One of the oldest working dog breeds is the Bernese Mountain Dog. They have a beautiful black, brown and white long coat. and are as loyal as any dog breed. Sadly, the Bernese Mountain Dog do not live as long as most other dog breeds. The Beauceron is a breed that dates back to the 16th century, and is one of France's beloved canines. They are known for their leadership qualities with other animals that comes from their herding background.

Another popular extra large dog breed starting with the letter "B" is of course the Bloodhound. How many times have we seen this great breed in the movies tracking the criminals. The name Bloodhound is defined as "one who follows up with an enemy with tenacity". Also this breed is the only one whose evidence is admissable in an American court of law.
