One of the most popular of the toy breeds is the Yorkshire Terrier. Being tiny, they are sought as lap dogs, but it must be remembered that this breed is a terrier through and through. The breed originated in the 19th century as a ratter in the Yorkshire clothing mills. This tenacious little dog was ideal for this purpose, small but very brave with the terrier hunting instinct. Puppies are attractive dogs with a silky coat that grows long and flowing once they reach adulthood.
