Saving Your Furniture With The Purchase Of Scratching Posts For Cats

By Thelma Kent

Pets can be like out children. We take care of them and make sure they are fed and have playthings to keep them busy. A lot of money is involved in the pet industry. Some animals need a bit more to keep them occupied. If you have nice furniture, it is wise to purchase scratching posts for cats.

Cats naturally have long nails. They like to sharpen them to be able to walk better and also makes them feel secure they can protect themselves. If they do not have something specific for sharpening, they will take it out on anything from an audio speaker to your nice couches.

There are different styles of posts out there. You can find the most simple style that has carpeting on one large column. They are entry level and very affordable. More elaborate styles have playthings attached and even feathers. This can keep your feline entertained throughout the day.

If you have noticed, your little friend loves to find warm comfortable places to hide or hang out. More deluxe models are tall towers with a variety of levels and hide outs. Some reach ceiling heights but give a ton of fun to your small pet. The taller they are, the more levels, carpet, holes, and other aspects are added.

If you have other pets, deluxe towers can provide a private place for your cat away from other intruders. Some towers have cubby holes that can provide shelter and a place to snooze. If your cat already enjoys shelves and other unique places to hang, they probably would like one this way as well.

Regardless of the model you choose, it is a wise investment to look at scratching posts for cats as a way to protect your important items. An out of print curtain can be hard to replace and seeing an area on your furniture that is shredded can disheartening.
