By Janis Hickman

Once you obtain your pet, you must start lessons to train it as soon as you can. Doing so will ensure that your pet does not cause any harm and behaves appropriately. As an owner, you must take care to establish a good relationship and ensure it gets dog aggression training los angeles.

If your pet is having behavioral problems, the first thing you should do is to observe what causes his behavior. He may become aggressive when he is around strangers, other animals or when he is reacting to a particular stimuli. Figuring out the trigger for his misbehavior will guide you on how to address the problem.

It is best if you take steps to correct the behavior as soon as you can. The earlier you do so, then the more you reduce the possibility that other people or pets will be injured when interacting with your pet. You can purchase books to guide you or find dog trainers to help.

When you start your lessons, it is important to use positive reinforcement. Your pet will be more amenable to following your commands if he understands that there will be an incentive for it. Remember that aggressive acts might only provoke him to act in a similar manner so stick with the rewards.

Establish yourself as the authority. This is necessary so that your pet is more willing to obey your commands instead of ignoring you. If he is engaging in bad behavior, then make him stop with a no or an action that conveys your displeasure. Moreover, it is best to keep him away from pets that exhibit the same problems.

Another thing you can do is to expose your pet to socialization. The more he is used to other people and animals around him, the more confident he will be in social situations. He must be in a controlled atmosphere when you are trying to train him. Start by letting meet a friend and then once he is comfortable, let that person give him treats to assure him.

It might be helpful if you start using a muzzle on your pet during your lessons especially if he has not been fully trained yet. Take time to get the pet used to wearing it in one of your daily activities. Once he is being trained, then it will not be a problem getting him to wear it.

Sometimes, a pet may be misbehaving because he is not feeling well. Try going to the vet for a checkup. If there are no health issues and he is getting to be too much to handle, think about getting a professional for dog aggression training los angeles.
