How difficult will I find training my Dog with a Clicker?

By Steven Tallow

The answer to this will likely depend on the attitude you bring to training your puppy. If you believe its going to be a chore and you want to have your canine friend properly trained as soon and as simply as possible, then you may find it complicated, and you most likely won't find yourself with a properly taught family dog. If this is the case then you should really be asking yourself if you have the time and dedication is required to take good care of a new puppy.

If, however, you are excited about educating your family dog, you are carrying out as much exploration as you can, and you can't wait to get cracking then you won't discover dog clicker training very difficult, in actual fact, you will find it a pleasure and a joy!

There is very little complicated around the implementation of clicker training - no specific expertise, diplomas or qualifications are required. The only thing that is important is a real desire to cherish and nurture your puppy, and to give him the very best teaching you possibly can.

It is needless to say advised you participate in suitable training courses, but there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of! You will find that anyone else learning the correct way to train their dog via a clicker are going to be just as committed and determined as you. They are, after all, spending the effort needed to become an expert dog clicker trainer, exactly like you!

So, if no extraordinary talents of qualifications are needed, then what exactly is? That's simple - primarily your persistence, time and love. Dogs and puppies, just like people, prefer to be taught in short bursts and as such he can benefit from frequent classes over the course of the day that last not anymore than ten minutes or so. Any more and he will quickly get fed up, distracted and aggravated, and so can you. So huge hour long periods every few days are not what you really are looking for - you won't see any end results, and the likelihood is you are going to toss in the towel. If you have ever previously endeavored to learn something, like a language for example, you will be aware that mammoth classes every couple of days or weeks barely generate good results. Short and often though, and you in next to no time end up with learning, almost without knowing it. Your pet dog will learn in a similar fashion. Short, distinctive bursts of studying means he keeps involved in the lessons; they are a novelty, they are fun and they are a beautiful means to get to know your puppy. He looks forwards to the lessons, and the treats!

So long as you stay persistent and are willing to put the time in, you should soon end up with the happy owner of a loving well trained family friend!
