The world has been influenced by Japan. The cultural variety they offer range from the food that we eat to the innovations that we currently use. None would have predicted that even their native pets would become a choice for people living overseas. The Shiba Inu breeders in Missouri know that if it were not for the infectious internet videos and heartbreaking movies, this breed would not have captured the attention of the public.

Shiba Inu breeds are small dogs with an appearance resembling that of a fox. Their muscles grow in a compact manner. They possess a double coated fur distinguished by a straight and stiff outer coat with a soft and thick undercoat. The outer coat is usually red, black, or tan and rarely do we see a cream to gray undercoat.

Its temperament is also very amusing. It is a charming yet, a confident dog. They were used for hunting in the past because of their fearless and keen nature. Since it is an alert dog, you always find time to challenge its mind by walking them, training them, or playing with them in order for it to grow healthy.

Being independent and headstrong, it has the tendency to be aggressive especially with strange dogs. It serves as an excellent watchdog because of its nature of being territorial and reserved with strangers.

This canine lineage also possess a trait of a cat. They are eager in cleaning themselves. You also do not need to have them take a bath regularly. Grooming would be easy until such time when they start shedding during the summer season. However, brushing solves the problem.

As a breeder, you need to know when it is unhappy. This small dog gives off a piercing cry, known as the Shiba scream, which can be very annoying to neighbors. In totality though, it is not a high maintenance dog. They do not salivate much. It also does not bark purposelessly. Not to mention, it does not require much to feed them.

Here is an interesting fact. Last December 2011, the oldest dog who died at the age of 26 was a Shiba Inu. This is a surprise because a dog of this breed is only expected to live 12 to 15 years. The record holder at that time must have walked a long way because it was found out that walking this canine lineage increases its life expectancy.

You also need to have a reliable veterinarian like any other breeder. Find someone near your area who shows a lot of concern of your growing animal. Keep your dog up to date with the necessary vaccinations. Have it regularly checked by its doctor as well.
