Choosing A Purebred Cavachon Dog Breeder

By Nelda Powers

Finding a purebred Cavachon dog breeder may be a challenge. They may be some distance from your home and require some travel but if you are sure about the type of pet you are looking for, it is well worth the extra time. A Cavachon is actually not a purebred but a hybrid dog. It is a cross of a Bichon Frise and a King Cavalier. These are the only two breeds that should show up in a search of their history.

These pets make wonderful family dogs. They love children, are very friendly and require little exercise. They are perfect if allergies are common in your household because they shed very little and are almost allergen free. Health problems are minimal among this particular breed.

They also come in both dual colors and tri-colors. These shades include black and white, peach and white, sable and white, as well as a combination of three of these colors. They usually weigh under 20 pounds.

Look for information on the type of pet you want. You can search online, through dog breeders or your veterinarian, or at the local library. Decide if you wish to buy a female or a male and whether or not you will get your new pet neutered or spayed.

Seek out a breeder who has a strong reputation among other dog lovers. Research online and paper reviews to help you make your choice. Talk to other purchasers to determine how happy they were with the transactions, price and quality of their puppies.

When you arrive at the chosen breeder location, immediately ask to tour the facilities. Make sure that it is clean and sanitized and has safety gates and other safety criteria in place. Ask about daily exercise and feedings as well as the type of food provided. If the business owners don't have answers to your simple requests, it may be a red flag and you may wish to conduct your search elsewhere.

Watch a batch of puppies at play. Get to know them by picking them up and handling them. Feel their fur, check their teeth and nails, and pick the personality most suited to your household. If you lead a quiet existence, you may wish to purchase a more introvert dog. If you have children, an animal that is outgoing and loves to run and play may be more fitting.

Thoroughly examine the puppies. Check the glossiness of their coats, their teeth and the overall health. Ask to see their immunization records and health histories of both of their parents. If there are actual parents on the property or pictures of them, do not hesitate to ask to see them.

A purebred Cavachon dog breeder can be of great assistance to you in your final selection and your future needs. They can tell you more about the breed characteristics and how to best take care of your new pet. Keep their phone number on hand in case you need more advice or if you decide you wish to purchase another dog in the future.
