You have been considering about getting a new puppy for your home. You have been wanting to do this for a long time and you have been thinking of actual getting a smaller breed too. Your home space is not that big to begin with. So, a smaller breed might fit the bill very well.

This is a very important decision and one important commitment you are about to make too. It helps that you get to do the research part first before you pick one up though so you know exactly what to expect when the puppy is already introduced to your home.

Know that these dogs tend to be very needy. They would require a lot of love and a lot of attention. Their breed causes them to be the most loving and loyal dog that you can ever find. But this causes them to be really needy fr your attention. Unless you can devote them that, it might not be a good idea for you to choose this kind of dog. A less needy breed may be better for you.

You will need to get them the right amount of exercise too. You have to remember that they possess such boundless energy and they definitely need to have something to do to release them. Take them for daily walks. Allow them to explore around.

Potty training is going to be extra challenging, just so you know. Other pups may only take a shorter time to learn where they should poop and pee. However, these breeds may tale extra time to actually learn this. Give them around half a year at the most to ensure that you get them properly trained not to make a puddle of pee on your carpet. Also, your patience here counts. A lot.

You want to be prepared for the teething months to. You would need to remember that considering how they are really very active dogs, there is a good chance that they would gnaw and bite on anything that they can get a hold of when they are teething. You want to avoid that. What you can do instead is to supply them with lots and lots of chew toys.

Expect to have to take them to walks a lot. Considering how they're very active, they would do best in an environment where they are allowed to freely run about. This might not be an issue if you live in a rural setting, if you are in the city though and you would not want them to be running straight for the road, invest on a good retractable leash for your walks outside.

Be sure to find a good vet ahead of time. It is very important that you will know which specific animal doctor to head to in the event that you will have issues with your puppy., it helps that you are able to choose a good one ahead of time so you would not have to be hard for you to decide who to get help from when you need them.
