By Monica Mae

These breed of felines are among the most noticeable kinds of cat on the planet. These pets have been speculated to be from the continent Asia. Unfortunately, the information we have about these cats is still incomplete and insufficient to conclude anything yet we still have a bit of information that can tell us something about these creatures.

Siamese cats were believed to have lived in Siam, the country now known as Thailand. The cats could only be found in Siam until some people brought a pair of these cats to the UK in 1884 to serve as a token. This is the only accountable past of the Siamese cats, yet Russia has shown some documents which suggest a cat of the same characteristics as that of the Siamese.

In the history of Siamese cats, many legends abound as to why the original cats had a kink in its tail. Today, not all Siamese cats have this distinctive kink and it is even discouraged in shows. There are now two variations of the Siamese cats, the traditional cat and the modern cat. The difference between the two is that the modern cats are more svelte than the traditional cats and sport longer, thinner bodies and legs.

Breed Standard

Nowadays, the original breed of Siamese cats isn't used for fairs or presentations anymore. However, the modern breed of Siamese cats still appears in front of the stage from time to time yet many breeders suggest bringing back the original breed of Siamese cats on the stage instead. The traits that distinguish the modern breed from that of the original ones are the skin color which is mostly composed of a cream based body with darker areas on the nose, the paws and the edge of the tail, and for males, the scrotum area. Since the beginning, these colors where common to Siamese cats.

Most of the associates of the International Cat Association are acknowledged to many productions or exposing events and are commonly seen with blue, almond-formed eyes as well as their coats being attached close to their hide. There have been reports in the past that the earlier breeds of this cat were even cross-eyed and manifested twists or tangles on their tails. These features were corrected on the goal of having the best breed of Siamese cats.

The breed is known to be highly intelligent and very affectionate with people. They tend to bond well with humans and are very loyal to their owners. This cat breed is seldom active at night and can be quite vocal with it needs and desires.
