Simple Tips To Stop A Puppy From Biting

By Samantha Cole

Dogs possess a natural tendency to munch so if you haven't already, you need to get him or her a good amount of chew toys. If he or she is biting when he or she plays you'll want to make sure you always have one of it's toys between your hand and his teeth.

Make clear "No Bite" or something like that in a very stern voice if he / she bites you when you are playing then pull your hand away and quit playing. Give him a few minutes not playing with the pup, then play again.

If he bites you for a second time, do exactly the same thing. Make clear "No Bite" (Make sure you use a very strict voice. If you don'tmore likely to think you're playing with them) and stop playing with him again, this time for a much longer period of time.

Puppies are very public creatures and refusing to engage in play is often an effective training method. As soon as the dog starts to bite or nip, convey a loud, yelping OUCH!!! Glare at the pup, get up and move away. After a minute or so, acquire a toy and go back to the puppy. Encourage the puppy to play with the toy. If he goes for you with a nip, repeat yelping and walking away.

It is additionally a great idea to get your dog used to working for things - even play time. Prior to deciding to feed the puppy, have him sit and after that feed. Do the same prior to leashing up for a walk. If the puppy brings a toy and asks you to play, turn tables and do a dose of training then play. The Puppy then learns that if he listens and obeys and does something, there will be an incentive. This too helps establish humans as higher in the pack order.
