By Cherry Ogasawara

Puppy training techniques will help a young dog not only to have good behavior but also to have social skills. A canine that responds quickly to basic commands, has potty skills and is obedient is a well behaved dog. One training technique involves using harsh tones while the other involves using rewards.

Using rewards is the best technique of instilling good behavior in a dog. In this technique, the canine will be rewarded when it exercises good behavior. Rewards are usually food based. The canine that shows consistent good behavior should be given a sumptuous treat.

Rewards can also be non- food items. These will include patting the dog on the head and praising the puppy when it shows good behavior. Some dogs will be encouraged by a pat just as other dogs are encouraged by tasty snack.

Harsh words can at times motivate desired behavior in some canines. Harsh words will at times be accompanied by finger pointing. However, one should make sure not to treat his animal in a rough way such as beating the animal. Beating an animal can have legal consequences in some jurisdictions. When quarreled, some puppies will stop undesirable behavior while some will continue with undesirable behavior.

A well trained dog will have exceptional toilet skills. A pet that is to be kept inside the house should have toilet skills. With such a pet, the house will be kept clean all the time. The compound will also be kept waste free all the time with such a pet.

A pet owner usually communicates with his animal using commands. There are many commands that a puppy owner can use. Some commands are used to make the puppy perform complex tasks while some are used to make it perform simple tasks. Simple tasks are tasks like sitting down and moving from one point to another. The younger a canine, the easier it is to train it. Anyone can train a canine to perform simple tasks. However, to train a dog to perform complex tasks will need an expert. When instructing a young canine, patience is needed. When dealing with very stubborn puppies that have bad manners, patience is what will produce results. Stubborn puppies will repeat the same mistake over and over. When a dog repeats the same mistake, one should not give up. Instead, one should persist in instilling good behavior to the canine.

An instruction session should have playing activities. Playing activities should come at the end of the session. Puppies are extremely playful creatures. By being allowed to play, puppies get social with each other and they also burn extra calories to keep them healthy.

Puppy training activities will make a young canine to have desired behavior and be sociable. One of the skills desired in puppies is toilet skills. Toilet trained puppies will not litter one's house with waste. A socialized canine will not have anti-social behavior such as shyness and aggressiveness.
