Dog Training To Give Your Pet Great Agility

By Jane Parker

As dog agility is developing into a sport that is recognized throughout the world, the emphasis being put on agility dog training is ever increasing. The owner and the dog would work together as a team and learn how to overcome different challenges and obstacles. On the owner's command, the dog would pass over obstacles, jump through tires, go through tunnels, walk on a seesaw and other tricks. As part of the whole training, there's an entire set of exercises for particular obstacles.

Any owner should know the advantages of the training process, especially if she or he intends to go into a competition. Agility training would exercise the muscles and stimulate your dog's body system. It's also beneficial for the owner, as it involves movements and fun. The only downside here perhaps would be the great cost of the training equipment required. Some would go the distance of building their own course in their own backyard, and thus do the training right at the comfort of their own home.

Only try this one if you have sufficient space on your household for creating an agility training course. If not, you need to take the dog to the most suitable places. If you own a dog, regardless of the breed, make use of enjoyable training activities. But, if you are planning to enter a competition, then you may need professional help from an expert trainer. You must also be aware of the fact that agility takes some time to develop, and results would not appear right then and there.

Safety should be followed during the dog training courses. If the course is not made the right way or incorrect training methods are being used, the dog may get serious injuries. You must take the dog to the veterinarian before you begin with the training. There are breeds of dogs that should not do too much jumping at an early age. You must never over work your own puppy! A puppy of 8 weeks of age can learn how to run through tunnels and learn fun things to do also. You just need to implement the appropriate reward-based mentality if you're to attain success.

You have to make sure that you don't treat the training as a form of work, because it really isn't. Take note that having an aggressive dog training can confuse your pet, particularly as the dog would see in each training session a good opportunity to bond with its master. Dogs enjoy these types of activities with their owners, so go and have some fun with your pet!
