English Mastiff is probably the largest breed of dog in terms of number. Many people love to have mastiff as their pet for so many reasons. First of all, mastiff is very loyal and dependable dog. You can assign the dog to be your guard at night and expect that this dog will do everything to protect the house and of course its masters too. Another great thing about mastiff is that it has very easy maintenance most especially when it comes to grooming. Its hair is easily groomed with the use of shampoo and conditioner plus of course with the help of combing. Despite all these "easy" things about mastiff, you must still make sure that it is in its healthiest condition always. You do not want to see your most loyal friend being sick and weak, now do you? So here are some tips on how to keep your mastiff healthy:
1. Give all the necessary vaccines - when adopting a pet dog you must make sure that you are giving the dog all the necessary shots of vaccines. Some shots include anti rabies and of course some others to help the dog grow healthy and strong. You could consult your vet for the schedule and for the types of vaccines to give to your dog.

2.Maintain good diet -mastiff is very taller and muscular breed of dog however it doesn't mean that you will just allow your dog to eat everything and anything. You need to be also certain with the dog's eating habits. It's not best for the mastiff to be obese since the tendency is that it can have tough time to move around. It is advisable to study regarding the amount of food you could give to your pet to keep just good weight. It is also better to know the foods that are not healthy for your mastiff so that you can prevent getting these to the dog.

3. For mastiff puppies always check for dehydration - mastiff puppies are very vulnerable to dehydration so you must pay attention to this issue constantly. This can be done by simply observing the urine of the mastiff puppy. The urine should be clear or light yellow to say that the puppy has good health in case it is dark yellow it implies that the puppy is experiencing dehydration. You must then give lots of water for the pet to treat the problem.

4. Play with your mastiff every now and then - it is also perfect for the health of the mastiff if you will have fun with together from time to time. Mastiff can be very lively and it's good for your pet to be running or walking around the block at least once per week.

5. Have regular checkups with the vet - lastly, you must always bring the dog to the vet for regular checkups to make sure that your dog is healthy.
