Here, Train my Dog

By Zhanghui Zhenlihoa

Every dog owner asks himself: how can I train my dog? Well, training dogs is both a fun and exciting if you invest enough patience and effort into making it the best it can be. Training dogs can be both fun and easy if properly done.

You don't need to make training your dogs seem like a job that you have to go through on weekends, have fun with your dog. If it stumbles or fumbles an order, just laugh it off and continue. The more patient and understanding you are, the less it feels like a chore that you're too lazy to finish. Training is a way to strengthen both your understandings as pet and owner.

Training your dog can be hard if your dog doesn't respect you like it should. It is absolutely important to let it know that as long as it stays in your house and you feed it regularly, that you are its sole master. And as a master you are tasked to train it into a more active and obedient member of the household. If it fails to grasp this concept, be assertive and let it know who you are and your place above it. Don't go overboard with this though, just maintain an aura of power that lets it know that you're friends but it's not cool to sleep in the owner's bed.

Dogs are smart creatures but don't try and confuse them by giving variations for the same command if you're training your dog. Limit it to simple yet easily understood terms. "Sit" is a more appropriate command to have it learn than "Sit down" or "Sit down here". Also keep in mind that dogs also respond to the tone of your voice, if you shout the command or elicit an angry tone they may be more reluctant to follow the command since this both scares them and confuses them.

Training your dog can be made simple so long as you form a mutual understanding with it, while not belittling its shortcomings with your lack of patience.
