If you pull one muscle you are at risk for pulling others at the same time, especially if you are one of those who think that they do not have to have anything done to it. No matter how tough and unbreakable you think you are, you are still going to have to have something done about it.

Maintaining your body's health is important to keep it free from injury; you can spare yourself a lot of the grief of a pulled calf muscle by taking care of it right away. No two injuries are the same; they do differ from person to person; swelling can go from a little to a lot of swelling. Everyone's body has a different reaction to each type of injury. You will want as little pain as possible and in order to do that you need to allow proper healing time for the swelling to go down. With more swelling, your pain becomes worse so getting under control is very important.

Swelling can be lessened by staying off of the injured leg; the best way to allow healing is to keep it elevated. You want to get back up and moving, so the best thing that you can do is to get plenty of rest. You will notice that the pain will become more bearable as the swelling goes down. Only you can force yourself to stay on bed rest for the proper amount of time to heal after sustaining an injury to a pulled muscle.

More injuries can occur once you have compromised an area of your body; the best thing would be to not walk on the hurt area at all and allow time to heal. This can wind you up in hamstring strain treatment if you are not careful and or are stubborn and will not rest. Why have such a chance?
