Styles Of Memorial Pet Urns

By Lynne Bonner

Pet urns are designed to hold the ashes of your beloved pet after cremation. They come in a vast variety of options from simple metal vases--much like the vases used for human ashes - to actual life size statue urns. You can even have the urn personalized with engraving or a photo.

Vases: These are what people have grown accustomed to thinking an urn should be. They look much like the urns used for human ashes, only smaller. Vases can be made from metal or even marble. You can buy them ready made with simple emblems (paw prints for example) already on them, or customize them.

Boxes: A simple box can be customized into a beautiful memorial for your pet's ashes. They can be made of anything from marble to hardwood. Some designs come with a tiny figurine of your pet's breed to sit upon the box.

Rocks: If you would like a memorial for outside, your best option may be a rock urn. These resemble basic grave markers, but are designed to actually contain the ashes of your lost pet. They can be customized by adding a photo or engraving as well.

Figurine: With a little searching, you can find a statue that looks a lot like your pet. These can be customized even further by the engraving of the statue's collar. As these memorials are generally weather resistant, they are great for outdoors as well.

Jewelry: Keepsake memorial jewelry is now available that will allow you to keep a small amount of ashes with you wherever you go. These come in many different fashionable looks and designs.

Whichever urn you decide on, please keep size in mind. A single cubic inch for each pound of healthy pet weight is needed to contain the ashes. Best of all, no matter which of the pet urns you choose, you won't have to leave your beloved pet behind when you move pet urns
