Getting Positive Outcome From Jack Russell Training

By Gill Butler

It is usually acknowledged that the better trained your furry companion is, the higher quality of a relationship you both will love. Well-trained and well-socialized dogs are a joy to be around and can make dog ownership an enjoyable part of your life. Thus to enhance your relationship with your four-legged friend, continue reading to understand some techniques to obtain positive outcome from Jack Russell training.

During training, make sure that your targets and expectations for your pet are reasonable. Much like when you try to learn something new, your pet dog isn't going to master new commands the first time you introduced it to him. Different breeds and even different dogs of the similar breed will have different degrees of receptivity towards training. Hence if you notice that your neighbor's dog aces a command within a day or two, do not foresee that it will be the same for your canine. Your furry pet may learn faster, or slower, than that.

Although a lot of pet owners are against crate training, there is fairly a bit of benefit in carrying it out. Many dogs like to have a place they can consider their own and they will never lose track of that location. It will help in canine separation anxiety and interestingly, with potty training. To train your four-legged friend to get accustomed to crate, always keep it (crate) near where you both are bonding. When he tires from play, he will obviously gravitate to the crate simply because doing so does not separate him from you.

During Jack Russell training, don't get furious or ticked-off if your furry friend doesn't learn a new trick without delay. New tricks take time to master and require patience and persistence from you. Praise your furry companion for each correct reaction and try to avoid getting frustrated. Your pooch can sense your frustration and that could cause him to become disheartened.

Rather than feeling upset and employ aggressive training strategies, consider using reward-based technique. Reward could be treats, praise, toys, time to play or gestures of affection. Nevertheless, bear in mind not to give treats to your four-legged companion without reason and do not feed your pet dog at the table. Feed your furry companion his dog food in the same place, at the same time, every day. Reward, alternatively should be given during training time. Furthermore, praise and petting are amply signs that you are friends with your canine pet. Too many treats at the wrong instances will produce a spoiled, overweight dog.
