Horseback Riding Camps: Lifetime Experiences

By Heather Toms

The standard camp for horseback riding can be a total riot. You have heaps of options: you can go on an overnite trip, it's easy to get into one week courses or you can participate in a summer camp. You can go along, with the children, with the wife and the children, with the girlfriend or fiance, or with your bride on a honeymoon. You can select a ranch, a mountain camp or some other exotic location. You can choose the camp that is just right for your preferences in terms of laze time, fun time and work time, if you find riding work.

Irrespective of the kind of camp you go to, its location and the people you go with, you are sure to have a roaring good time. Equestrian programs in all of these camps are run by experienced staff on well-trained horses. The atmosphere is just great. These camps can provide you with the right base to hone your riding abilities. If you are considering getting your own horse or a pony or horses for members of your family, a camp is the ideal place to lay the ground work.

While some camps teach riding only , others are much more diverse. They have classes in showing, barrel racing, trotting, jumping, cantering and dressage. The schedule is filled with fun games and some of the horses are trained in trick riding and stunts. You are taught to ride well and you're also taught the elementary ideas of caring and handling a pony. You are given the right instructions in safety factors: your own safety, your horse's safety and the safety those others around. You're also given opportunities to gain some experience in horse riding and upkeep gear and tools.

In some camps like Dude Ranches, you are taught herding and roping. These operations allow you to take along your own pony and board it. There are limitless options, with something or the other for almost everybody. There isn't any limitation on age as long as you are not a new born baby or a bed ridden relic (I presume). Usually, these camps are held in gorgeous, calming surroundings.

You will never forget your riding camp experiences. You get no opportunity to forget, what with all the new friends you make and the keepsake photos you take home. The riding camp is just the right place to make the acquaintance of horses, if you are a stranger to them. Horses are totally charming creatures and they can have characters that intrigue you. Whatever breeds of horses are present , they'll definitely impact you in the most interesting way you can think of.

It's a reasonable bet that you will not be going to a pony riding camp just the once. The first time hooks you into wanting more, and you will definitely be reaching out for more. If you're not really sure about what riding camps are all about, check out a camp or two the next time you are out on a trip. You will find glorious living quarters, jaw-dropping scenery and possibly life changing experiences.
