Purchase Tough Dog Toys For Your Furry Friend

By Brandi Little

Tough dog toys are items that have been made for big hounds that can be destructive. Hounds like this can get bored really quickly and then they will dig in and chew things like shoes, bags, clothing and other household items that one doesn't want one's animal to chew on. Once that happens, then one knows that it's time to invest in some durable playthings that the animal can spend hours with, just chewing or running around with it.

These playthings come in very different forms such as bones, balls, tugging ropes, training aids, squeaky things, Frisbees and sticks. If a hound is a puppy still, he or she are teething and they need to chew on things. If they don't have a substitute, they will find other things to chew like shoes or trees or books and everything they can wrap their jaws around. So instead of giving them a plaything that is hard that can't be chewed, it is better to get them things that they can chew on. Cow hoofs are very popular because they taste so good.

Other types that are available are bones, tugging ropes, squeaky things and Frisbees. At the puppy stage when the animal is growing teeth, it will want to chew on everything that it comes in contact with. It is best then to get playthings that can be chewed. There are artificial chew things that are made from rubber and latex. Natural items such as cow hoofs and bones are also much appreciated. All these types of playthings also help an animal to keep their teeth clean, healthy, and strong.

Another interactive plaything one can obtain is a ball. An owner and a pet can play for hours with one of these things. The boomer ball is a kind of ball that is larger so it can't fit in the jaws of the canine. It is made from non-toxic substance called polyethylene and it's smooth to the touch. The animal will be able to push this ball around for hours around the garden.

Other multifunctional items could be durable items that are made to look like stuffed animals, but they are durable and can take a good chew at it. Then there are playthings that are meant to keep the animal entertained for hours. Kong playthings are things that can be thrown with a special treat inside.

In terms of artificially made playthings, only the most durable, safest materials are used in the manufacture. The Bionic bone for example withstands the aggressive play of most pets. It is a non-toxic bone type object with ridges. There is a hole inside to put treats in so that the animal can feel that it's reaching in to get something.

The boomer ball is a ball that is completely resistant to pet inflicted damage such as teeth and feet. It is made from polyethylene which is a non-toxic substance and is used in most zoos as a therapeutic plaything for animals such as pigs, bears and elephants. It is smoother than other balls and the pet can spend hours chasing it around the garden.

No matter what the size of the canine is, they all need to be kept active and engaged and they all love to chew on interesting things. There are so many inexpensive options on the market that the owner can pick and choose from for his friend. Tough dog toys are meant for the hound to enjoy and for the owner to enjoy with him. Nothing is more rewarding than having a play romp with one's pet.
