The Story of The Blue Nose Pitbull

By Geraldine Dimarco

Many of you are in the process of thinking about what pet you want to take home right now. After all, it's a big decision and you don't want to make a mistake of getting the wrong pet. Some of you may have narrowed their choices to maybe a pitbull. You've heard that a lot of good stuff and bad stuff about the blue nose pitbull and you're not quite sure where you are on this. Read on to learn more about this dog and if you will want him as your pet or not.

Read on to find out what makes a pitbull and if they are the kind of pets you want to have for your home.Technically, the only true pitbull is the American Pit Bull Terrier. However, there are some canines that look very close to this breed. These are the American Staffordshire Terrier, English Staffordshire Bull Terrier, the Dogo Argentino, Bull Terrier, American Bulldog, Presa Canerio, or any of the abovementioned crossbreeds. They are very similar with American Pitbulls and do share with many of their characteristics, but strictly speaking-when we talk of pitbulls we are referring to the American Pit Bull Terrier.

OK, so we know about American Pitbull Terrier-now what's all this business about blue nose and red nose pitbulls? What's the difference between these two sub-types? Nothing really. Of course we can see a slight difference in the color and some claim that blue pitbulls are bigger than the red ones but if you get down to it-there is really no big difference between the two. They are the same dog whatever hue you find their noses to be.

Now some of you might be a little worried about all the flack you've been hearing about his inclination to be aggressive. You want a pitbull but you don't want to risk the furniture in your home, or even worse-have him physically injure a family or friend. Well, you don't need to worry about that-pitbulls are great family pets to have. They may not go along great with other animals but they are loving and affectionate with their human masters. Your family is safe with them but do not let him roam around outdoors alone and without a leash tied to him.

Pitbulls are not just affectionate with their human friends- they are a very active breed of dogs as well. It is very important that you engage him in vigorous activity for 15 to 40 minutes (depends on the need of your pet) to release this pent-up energy. If not, all that energy may turn to destructive behavior or ceaseless barking. Blue pitbulls are for the most part, healthier than many dogs; but you must still make sure you bring him regularly to the vet for timely check-ups. Set aside money for his regular examinations, check-ups, vaccinations and de-worming sessions. These are some of the things you need to think of before getting a pet.

All in all, if you are looking for a family pet, the blue nose pitbull is an excellent choice to have. They are healthy, sociable, active and very loving to people. They may entail a bit more expense as you would expect from a pet-but their happy company is well worth it for sure. Enjoy!
