Animal Urns Are Gaining Acceptance

By Bertha Wells

There is no denying that pets are part of our lives. People who have a dog or a cat or anything else for that matter, become very close with their pets. They become part of the family. This should be obvious in the thousands of dollars that people will often spend on their pets when they are sick or injured. We are a loving species and as such we have a tendency to want to remember our loved ones. Animal urns can provide that luxury for us.

Many people today choose to keep the cremated remains of a passed on loved one, family member, or friend. Also growing in popularity is keeping the remains of a loved family pet. When we take an animal into our home as a pet it usually does not take long before we fall in love with it.

Cats and dogs are not the only animals saved in this manner either. While they might be the most popular, people are cremating their birds, reptiles, even their little hamsters. All that matters is how much love there was between the pet and their owner. It is very common for pets to be loved just as much as any other family member.

This can be especially difficult when the pet that passes away belongs to a young child. When this happens a parent is sometimes forced to teach their child about death a little sooner than they would have liked. Whether it is too early or not sometimes it may be easier for the child to understand because of the pet being involved.

When people keep an animal urn they have that loved pet with them always. They can keep the urn in a cabinet or they could even take the ashes and spread them in the pets favorite place. For a dog this might be a park or back yard. There is no limit to the type of animal that can be cremated and preserved in a nice urn.

Today pets are welcomed into our homes and our families readily. We not only support them and feed them, but we spoil them and find ways to give them things they don't really need but it makes us feel better to give it to them. This is exactly why cremating our pets when they pass has become so popular. People do not want to lose their pets.

When we fall in love with our pets we find it hard to say goodbye. This is a way for us to let a loved animal pass on and still remain somewhat in our lives. You might have to do a little searching to find a funeral home that deals with animals, however any human funeral home should be able to direct you.

Maybe spreading your dogs ashes in a favorite park is what seems right to you. No matter what you decide to do you will have that option when the cremation takes place and you store the ashes in animal urns. What you do with them at that point is up to you. Regardless, you will have your loved pet with you forever and only you can decide when and how they are laid to rest.
