Business Of A Yorkie Poo Breeder

By Janelle Burnett

A Yorkie Poo dog is a combination of a Yorkshire Terrier and a miniature or teacup Poodle. A Yorkie Poo puppy usually goes for 300-600 dollars. These pups are available from online puppy stores, pet shops, or even a seller in front of a Supermarket. But how much work does a Yorkie Poo breeder have to go into so they can breed and sell these puppies?

First of all, they must buy the male and female dogs. They can do this 2 ways; by buying a male and female half Yorkshire Terrier and half Poodle dogs, or by buying a Yorkshire Terrier and a Poodle, with papers. That can get costly. If the dogs aren't of age, they must wait for them to come of age, and then put them together at the right time so they breed. Also, choosing a good-tempered dog is important as well, as the animals will pass that on to their babies.

They, of course, have to keep the dogs and their pups fed and watered, and train them to be good, obedient dogs. They also need the facilities to hold many dogs, though that depends on how big they want their operation to be. While some owners just want a small operation with one couple breeding and the puppies sold from that, others go larger with many couples breeding.

In either scenario, but mostly the last one, they would need a large, clean fenced arena for the dogs to be active in, and an inside facility to house and breed the dogs in. It must be inside because Yorkshire Poodles are fragile small dogs and would need protection. Also, most owners buy these dogs for inside pets, so they must be used to living inside. It would also be more time consuming and personal for the owners to have the dogs inside, which these types of dogs need very much.

Yorkshire Poodle dogs, full grown, rarely weigh more than 14 pounds. They are energetic, people-loving dogs, who enjoy barking and playing. They have no to little shedding, live very well with other pets, and can be sad and lonely if left alone for too long. They are also easy to train - a fantastic trait in a dog. Most Yorkshire Poodle dogs were bred as designer dogs, and most of the time are from two purebred parents - pure Yorkshire, and pure Poodle.

While Yorkshire Poodle pups are very attention loving, that makes a owners have to make even more of an effort. They must spend a lot of quality time with their parents and the puppies. These dogs are also very active, so the owner needs to make sure they get a lot of supervised outside time.

These vulnerable, tiny puppies are perfect prey for predators. More so if the facility is located near the countryside, so they need to keep a watchful eye over them. They would also need to start basic training for the puppies, like potty training, which is very time-consuming. The pups also need shots and vet checkups, which costs money as well.

All this being said, being a Yorkie Poo breeder is a hard, time consuming job that requires a lot of personal effort. You must be a responsible person, for lots of little dogs are depending on you for survival. However, if the first paragraph telling how much these pups go for should show the motivation, it's totally worth the hard work and effort.
