Making Doggie Dresses For Dummies

By Bertha Wells

Pet lovers are always looking for ways to show off their dogs to people who are willing to admire their well pampered pets. These days, it is very common to see an ordinary person walking a dog that is wearing a shirt or dress. People who would also want to take part in this kind of thing, then here is a short guide to creating doggie dresses.

In preparation to making the dress, it is most vital to get the exact size and measurements of the whole body of the pooch. Of course one must first start by measuring the upper body of the dog and then followed by the length of his legs. When the length has been measured, then the girth of the opening of the head and the legs should also be accurately measured otherwise it will not fit.

After getting the exact size and measurements of the dog, then next would be to decide on the design. One may opt to make just a simple dress that will look cute or a fancy princess dress that will grab the attention of a lot of people outside. In fact, one may even create costumes which are actually harder to make but cuter to look at.

Another thing that one should prioritize would be the materials that are going to be used to make the cute little doggie dress. Of course one should choose the material of the dress based on the weather conditions of the place he is staying in. If one would live in a tropical country, he should make a dress with thin material but if he lives in a country or area that tends to be cold, then thick material will be much better.

Next thing to do would be to pick out a pattern on how to sew the dress. Many patterns can be downloaded from the internet or can even be gotten from videos online like in Youtube or in other types of websites. The main point would be to get a sewing pattern so that the pet owner will not have a hard time in making the clothing.

For those who are not very keen in sewing or making clothes, then the next option would be to just bring it to the tailor. Now he must give the tailor the chosen design, the exact measurements of the dog, and give the tailor the material which he has chosen from. Now doing this may cost a bit more money but it will definitely save a big amount of time.

Before making the dress, a final warning to dog owners would be to never ever put buttons or zippers on the dresses. Putting one of these things can be dangerous for the dog because they might bite it off and choke on it. Creating a slip on dress that is very flexible is a better alternative.

Now for those dog lovers out there who do not know how to make doggie dresses, check out this short guide. Now one final reminder would be to try to not use material that can be ripped easily. A recommended one that is widely used is latex but others can also be used.
