These dogs do not live very long compared to other breeds. The average life span for them is only 10 years. Some smaller dog breeds are known to live almost double the life span of English bulldogs. For this reason, a proud owner should cherish every moment that they spend with their bulldog.

The breeder that you buy your dog from is very important. Small breeders usually raise healthier puppies due to them not having too many to take care of. Large breeders do not give the proper care and attention to puppies because they have so many. They sometimes are just out to make the largest amount of money possible. They may not necessarily be neglecting their dogs on purpose, but when there are too many dogs to care for it may be impossible for them to care for them.

A responsible breeder will show signs that he or she cares about their dogs by asking you questions about how you will care for the dog. It is best to take one of these dogs home when they are at least seven weeks old. The breeder's contact information should also be obtained just in case you have future questions.
