We used to have a problem with our 135 pound Newfoundland dog sleeping in our bed and sometimes on the couch when we are away. After we bought him his memory foam bed, everything was resolved. The dog's bed functions the similar to that of human. So, your dog gets the same benefits of support especially if you have an older dog with joint problems. His bed is located at the end of our bed, where a fan is directly above him.And on more occasions than one, he has been seen laying belly up with his fur waving in the breeze, somewhere in dreamland chasing rabbits. He is one contented dog!
Since he is not getting any younger, we try to keep him happy, fit and healthy so that he can live longer and still be with us for long. We tenderly call our dog, BooBoo. We frequently spoil him with goodies but not to the level that is harmful to his well-being. We monitor his food intake, and see to it that it's not beyond the limit and the food he eats is healthy. Even his treats are healthy. He tends to engulf his food in a hurry, as most animals do.In a matter of seconds, his food disappears.
He's a water drinker and I observed that he would guzzle it down as well.We did some research and found out this was not beneficial for his well being that gulping food and water can cause acid reflux, overeating, erratic eating, choking, vomiting, digestive and nausea problems. So we found these really cool water and food dishes that regulate and slow down eating and drinking (maybe someone should invent something like this for us humans, too. We eat and drink entirely too fast and could use something to make us slow down!)
I'm not sure if you have seen a Newfoundland dog. It's breed has a very thick coat that sheds a lot of oily dander. Regarded as rescue dogs, Newfoundlands' waterproof double coat protects them from the chill of the icy waters. Yet, it can be depressing for him during the summer season.
He keeps on loosing his hair and emits a stinky smell.During the winter months he really begins to smell. His coat takes a while to get dry that is why we don't like to bathe him during winter. Therefore we had to use other methods of making and keeping him fresh. And find it we did. We encountered a remarkable ion brush. It uses negative ions and doesn't need water or chemical in cleaning and removing the bad smell, and even untangles tousled fur. BooBoo now feels fresh and clean all the time, in summer and in winter. Everyone is happy.
Yes, we do pamper our pets. Nevertheless, they give back so much. To keep your dog in a state of good health, make certain that he/she gets ample exercise, right amount of healthy food and water, enough rest and most specially a lot of affection.
