If you diversify your food and activity and still be unsuccessful relieving your irregular constipation, use an O-T-C laxative for a few days. Medicines that dissolve excrement or attach weight (bran, psyllium) start working more slowly yet are safer than Epsom salts and other crude medicines or herbal laxatives that has senna (Cassia senna) or buckthorn (Rhamnus purshianna), which can impair the nerves and lining of the colon.
