Make Your Own Dog Running Gear

By Claudia Campos

Bringing your dog along during exercise has been proven to make you continue with the fit lifestyle. It helps more having your canine companion accompany you, rather than an actual person. Human beings get tired easily, your furry friend does not. However, safety for you and for him must be observed. For him to keep going, he must be clad in sufficient dog running gear.

If you prefer exercising outdoors, taking your pet with you is always advisable. However, a mere leash is not sufficient in keeping him safe while you both exercise. He needs protective covering for his body and paws. Sustaining fluids and food are also required. Finding some of these equipment could be taxing, but patience is key.

Ultimately, it is up to you on how you would obtain outdoor accessories needed for your pet. You can go directly to your favorite pet shop or whatnot. However, these easy tips could be of help to you. These are also helpful if you are on a tight budget.

First, you have to consider his body protection. The ideal accessory for this is a body pack. You can most likely find one in large sporting goods stores. If not, you can simply make it. You can take a lightweight life vest and make alterations. Just examine how it would fit him comfortably.

Next are clogs. The ideal material these clogs should be made of is granite. Also, those with foam soles make it a breeze to run in. But if they are too pricey for you, ordinary but comfy clogs will do. They can be found in large pet stores.

Lastly, you will need treats and water for your buddy to keep him energized. Bringing a poop bag, in case of emergency, will not hurt either. Having a compact sized dispenser with a bit of baking soda inside makes a good bin. Especially for the poop bag.

Just prepare the necessary dog running gear for your friend overnight. The next morning, you are both set. Remember, having a canine companion to exercise with means having a friend who will not give up on you.
