Charities For Children Make A Difference

By Brandi Little

Numerous charities for children have been established over the decades for children in need of support for emotional, physical and spiritual reasons. They are unable to help themselves and require the services of others to help them improve the quality of their life. The goal of charities is to fund raise as well as to make known the plight of these youngsters to the rest of the world.

One charity was started by a fourteen year old boy in 2005 who felt compassion for children whose parents had died from the AIDS virus. The organization raised over 1.8 million dollars by selling basketball shoot-a-thons. These funds helped to build a health clinic in Africa as well as to provide better quality backpacks for the children.

Some charitable organizations have established programs where the terminally ill child can have his last wish fulfilled. He can meet his favorite sports star or pop star. Other candidates express an interest in visiting a special child-oriented destination in the world to participate in a fun activity. The goal of the organizations is to help those experiencing great physical and emotional pain to have a brief moment of pleasure in their difficult lives.

Charities function as powerful vehicles to help increase awareness of the issues these youngsters are coping with. The charities are also able to propose solutions to these problems. Individuals can become paid members where they can become instrumental in helping create success stories so that each child the charity embraces will have a positive benefit.

Volunteerism is also encouraged since help is always needed in many different areas. Drivers, fund raisers, and mentors are just a few examples of the types of proactive work the volunteer can become involved in. The goodwill that is shared becomes viral and soon the community itself becomes more aware of the work that is being done and in turn will find ways to support it.

One can help as a driver, office helper, fund raiser, telethon or radiothon to name a few activities. Churches have traditionally promoted bake sales and business organizations have created elegant dinner events where the attendees pay a sum of money for entry. Often a well known entertainer is present to add top level entertainment to the event as well.

There are special times of the year when charities will have special events to raise funds. The spring and summer are ideal for sports events such as running while the winter months tend to be geared towards indoor activities. The outcome is still to help improve the quality of life for these children who were traditionally institutionalized and kept out of the public eye.

Many countries support charities for children wholeheartedly. Some countries however do not share this philosophy so much suffering takes place. Charities from outside of these countries attempt to provide aid to the children but are often turned back due to political reasons. Wars too prevent them from access. Much information is available online to learn more about how one can be proactive in this regard.
