Several Useful Tips In Making All Natural Dog Treats

By Brandie Montgomery

Giving canine friends all natural dog treats have increased in popularity. One possible reason for this is the increased knowledge of pet owners of the possible health risks artificial preservatives and components in pet food can give to their pets. Even though there is a reason for including food preservatives in making the treats, owners have the option of choosing between artificial and from nature considering the well being of their pets.

The chemicals that compose chemical compounds are needed to keep the fat in food from turning rancid. These compounds are also essential to prevent the formation of molds that hasten the expiration of cooked food. Since the discovery of carcinogenic factors in artificial components, many animal owners have turned to solutions from nature. The products made from the natural ingredients are also higher in quality.

There are also marketing ploys that place the words natural and holistic in the labels of their products. To make sure that what you are buying is really all from nature, check the labels for the list of components. Make sure that no artificial colors and preservatives are included in the list.

Any pet owner can use their own kitchen equipment to make dog treats. All they need to provide are the necessary constituents. A classic dog treat requires eggs, peanut butter, vanilla, oil, and water. You will also require wheat flour, oatmeal, and cornmeal. A wooden spoon or a wire whisk and a bowl big enough for mixing is also needed.

Start making the cookie dough by mixing all the wet ingredients together in the bowl. Once you have achieved a homogenous mixture, pour in the mixture of all dry ingredients and blend thoroughly. Use the electric blender or mixer for this purpose. Continue mixing until smooth dough is achieved.

Cut out small parts of the mixture and knead on top of a board. Make sure the board is sprinkled with flour before placing the dough portion on top. Sprinkle flour on the mixture as you knead to come up with a pliable concoction.

Use a roller to roll the dough to a thickness of about one half inch. Use cookie cutters to cut out the desired shapes. Do this procedure for all the remaining mixture in the bowl. Use grease less sheet and bake the natural dog cookies at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for about 25 minutes. Make sure that all the cookies in each sheet are cooked before removing the batch for cooling. Store in an airtight contain to lengthen the expiration date.

The ingredients needed to make peanut treats are also available in most kitchens. These are garlic powder, flour, cheese, eggs, milk, oil, and water. Start by mixing all the wet components together and blending in all the dry components that are mixed previously. Make certain the right consistency, and mixture is achieved before rolling it to sheets. Roll out the boodle using a rolling pin until about a fourth part inch thick.

Use cookie molds to cut out the shapes and arrange in a lubricated baking sheet. Bake the biscuits for 25 minutes in a 400 degree Fahrenheit heat or until all the biscuits are cooked. Store in closed containers to prevent contamination and increase the shelf life of the all natural dog treats.
