Discovering Dog Toys For Aggressive Chewers

By Alyce Larson

One of the most aggravating things that a dog owner must deal with is a pet who likes to chew up everything. People often think of their pets as their children. However, it is important to remember that as animals, it is their natural instinct to chew on things, even if they are important things. The best defense for this behavior is to supply the dog toys for aggressive chewers.

The first thought might be to buy a chew toy that is hard. However, a dog will probably not like chewing a toy made from a stiff, hard material and will quickly go back to chewing their owner's favorite pair of shoes. The most effective material for a chew toy is one that is both hard and durable and made from non-toxic material in the USA.

While chew toys are excellent aversions to trouble, there are other healthy benefits to their use. By buying a toy that is created with nubs the dog will get a pleasurable sensation on their gums while chewing. Not only this, but plaque will be cleaned from the teeth while chewing which, in turn, will create a healthier oral environment.

Dogs, like people, are all different and not all dogs will enjoy chewing on a hard toy. In fact, there are dogs that will absolutely refuse to chew on hard chew toys, possibly because they do not like have the toys make their teeth feel. When an owner runs up on the problem, they need a solution.

In an effort to give these chewers something to gnaw on, their owner may offer them a stuffed animal. It is unfortunate that these types of items are not made to be dog toys for aggressive chewers and they are quickly destroyed. Swallowing the stuffing can be harmful to the dog.

A pet lover can resolve this issue by finding a company that manufactures soft, yet durable chew toys. These toys are created using extra strong fabric that is held together with layer after layer of strong stitching to ensure that they do not fall apart easily. While these playthings are created to withstand a lot of aggressive play, they can still fall apart. However, they are created in a way that will require a lot of effort from the dog in order to do so.

The fact that their pet might be harmed by chewing up their toys can be very disconcerting and chewing through an expensive toy quickly can cause frustration. If this behavior becomes an issue, the owner should speak with their veterinarian to get some ideas about what to do.

While it is true that pet ownership can bring a lot of joy to the household, negative behavior, such as chewing, can bring a lot of a aggravation. Whether the dog is a hard chewer, or prefers softer chews, it will be helpful to all involved if a toy is provided for chewing. By purchasing dog toys for aggressive chewers, the owner can be assured that the dog will get many hours of enjoyment from the chosen toy.
