Only you and your doctor can devise a treatment plan for panic attacks that will work for you as long as you contribute as much as you can to the plan. Your treatment depends on your unique life conditions. There is never any case of one size fits all with panic attack treatments. It is known that there are possible genetic components. There is evidence to show that panic attacks can run in families. You can be predisposed to panic attacks. Only a doctor can determine what antidepressant can be effective to reduce the severity and frequency of panic attacks. If you need immediate relief from panic attack symptoms you need to ask your doctor, there are some medications that can help. But the use of antidepressants is not specifically for immediate help during a panic attack, rather it is a longer-term strategy. The treatment prescribed quite often for panic attacks is the use of Serotonin Re-uptake inhibitors. Serotonin Re-uptake inhibitors such as Zoloft, Celexa and Prozac are just a few of the medications. The therapist or doctor treating you may choose one of these medications.

You may benefit from prescription medication for treatment too. There are two very general approaches with traditional prescription medicine. Onset medications can be used to curb the attack right when it happens. The second works over time. Ultimately what you decide for your own panic attack treatment is your decision. the most important thing for you to do is keep the communication flowing with your doctor. Maybe the most important way to successfully complete your treatment is to keep everyone informed.
