The Different Kinds Of Brain Chemicals

By Mari Orr

The functioning of the body is normally affected by a number of factors. One of the largest component of the body and important is the brain chemicals. These fluids usually have an impact on a number of body activities such as energy levels, fidgeting, sleep, sweat rate and mood swings. The amount of these body fluids in the blood stream is normally affected by diet, sunlight, stress, exercise and the nature of life style a person leads.

These body fluids include prostaglandins, melatonin, insulin, dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine. The biochemical that usually has a large impact to body reactions is called serotonin. Serotonin is associated to several types of depression. In normal circumstances, the body should produce serotonin that is enough to reach the adrenergic receptors and serotonergic receptors.

The other kind of biochemical is the acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter that is utilized by the cholinergic system when it is stimulated. It also increases memory capacity and alertness. This biochemical directly affects sexual performance and arousal. This blood flow affects heart rate, blood pressure during love making.

The other kind of chemical is the dopamine. If dopamine does not get to the Basil Ganglia, it results into Parkinson's disease. The other kind of condition that is caused by production of dopamine is the Schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is the lack of ability to reason straight.

This is especially if the dopamine level is too low and it does not get to the frontal lobe. Excessive production of dopamine in the system that is called limbic affects the personality of a person if the cortex is not adequate. This dopamine also influences the concentration and memory loss.

Phenylethylamine is also another kind of body fluid. A surge this chemical in the limbic system causes a feeling of bliss. The other important brain chemicals are the Oxytocin and norepinephrine.
