Veterinary Endoscopy Society Promotes Wellness

By Flora Vinson

The veterinary endoscopy society promotes wellness for animals through minimally invasive techniques. This organization has members who are doctors of vet medicine, researchers and professors in the veterinarian field who believe strongly in the care and wellbeing of animals. These animal caregivers and teachers believe in helping pets and other animals with the least amount of pain possible.

Each year, this group organizes a gathering of its members to discuss new technology. They also talk about any issues that may have come up since their last meeting. In the past, the group has met in Park City, UT; San Pedro, Belize; and Cancun, Mexico. Their upcoming meetings are scheduled for Key Largo, Florida and San Gimignano, Italy.

Veterinarians, researchers and teachers discuss any issues they may have come across in the past year with one another at these yearly meetings. They attend classes sponsored by the association to help keep their skills up-to-date as well as get to know others in the same field. This is a time for learning and relaxing.

Some of the procedures are specific to small animal practices. Some of the procedures are specific to large animal practices. However, everyone in attendance will benefit from the information shared at these yearly gatherings when it comes to helping their animal patients.

The use of an endoscopic device helps guide a veterinarian through the animal's body usually through a small opening. This is much better on their patient then a large incision and using their hands to find the problem. Most of the endoscopes have tiny snips on the end to remove tissue and other debris as needed.

The veterinary endoscopy society wants more vets to help animals in a less invasive way. They encourage more graduating vets to take a look at how this equipment works and what it can do for their ill patients. They also encourage vets of all skill levels to look at the remarkable fast recovery time.
