Starting Out In Pet Sitting Frisco

By Flora Vinson

When people have to leave town, most of the time their pets can't go with them. This is where pet sitting Frisco comes in. While it is a common occupation of teenagers who want some pocket change, it also makes a rewarding career for some adults.

Two types of sitters exist, and some people do both. In one scenario, the pets come to you, at your home. This can be problematic for reasons relating to others living in your home, as well as business-related reasons such as licenses and fees. Or, you can go to the home where the pets live, either to stay the duration or as daily check-in visits.

Depending on the situation, if you are watching pets in their home you might do anything from one visit a day to moving in for the duration of the job. Indoor cats and those with access to a cat flap are ideal once a day visit pets. They just need to be fed, have their box cleaned, and spend some quality time with a human.

Dogs that have free access to a backyard don't theoretically need more attention than cats, but most of them get lonely without human attention. Those without yards might need anywhere from three to six or more bathroom breaks per day. Puppies need nearly-constant attention.

Some people don't really have a choice between a boarding facility and a sitter. This can be for any number of reasons, such as the pet hates the boarding facility, or isn't spayed or neutered. It can also occur because of behavior problems. Although being flexible is good, figure out your stance on common issues before opening your business.

Making sure that your (figurative) butt is covered with bonding and insurance is important. Sitters are in the unique position of being able to be blamed both for things that the pets in their care do, and for things that happen to those pets. To help avoid trouble, insurance and any required licensing for pet sitting frisco should be complete.
