How To Prepare For A Lasik Operation

By Paulette Hart

Many people who have issues concerning their eyesight to their vision have always had a hard time when it comes to wearing contact lenses or spectacles. This is the reason why many of these people these days have since opted for operations like Lasik Boston.

If you have finally decided that this surgery is the best option for you, you have to ensure that you are actually able to carry out all the pre-operation methods. These steps are considered very necessary especially since you'd want to increase the operation's chances for success.

Once the doctor has already set a specific date when the operation will be performed, always ensure that you stop using perfumes, makeups, creams or lotions. Substances like these may contain chemicals that may irritate your eyes or will even cause infection the moment the surgery is carried out.

If you have a scheduled Lasik surgery, ensure to take some time off your work. You would want to spend the next two days or more after the operation while resting. This will give your eyes time to heal, and will also help reduce the tendency for it to get infected.

Ensure that you will ask somebody to drive you home once the surgery is performed. You cannot drive back because of the patches that will be blocking your vision. Thus, have somebody take care of your transportation needs for you to ensure convenience along the way.

Wear the most comfortable clothes as well. You would not want to get uncomfortable during the operation later because you wore something that was too tight or too lose. In addition, be sure to wear your hair properly to avoid the strands from interfering the positioning of the laser later on.

Don't forget to relax as well. Although it is normal to feel a little nervous during the process, your surgeon should be able to help reduce your fear in the process. Also, the surgeon may choose to give you anti anxiety medications before the Lasik Boston surgery.
